Immunotherapy (allergen desensitisation)
What is immunotherapy?
At London Nose & Sinus Clinic, we offer the full range of treatment for allergy and allergic rhinitis, led by experts in nasal and allergic disease.
Immunotherapy is an advanced treatment for more severe cases of allergy (particularly allergic rhinitis and hay fever). It is typically considered in patients who cannot get control of their symptoms with nasal sprays and antihistamines. The principle of the treatment is to expose the immune system to small amounts of purified allergen (for example pollen or dust mite) over a prolonged period, to create "tolerance" or "desensitisation". This aims to reduce the symptoms sufferers get when exposed to the allergen in everyday life.
We recognise how important it is for you to choose the right specialist for your medical care.

Immunotherapy (desensitisation) at LNSC
Immunotherapy exists in two forms: subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT), which is delivered using a small needle under the skin, and sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT), which is delivered via a tablet that dissolves under the tongue.
We are able to deliver both forms of immunotherapy at LNSC, giving our patients the widest possible range of treatments for allergic conditions of all levels of severity.
